Anna's Life Now

It is fascinating how fast a child picks up a language! Aron and I played with some tennis balls today. I had two in my hands and he came to me and said; "This my ball." I have never really heard him say more than one or two words in English before (at the same time that is), now all of a sudden he said a sentence...even if it was only three words and the verb was missing.. =) I guess now is the time to focus on the Swedish at home, so that he doesn't start speaking English with us too and forgetting his Swedish.

Then we have the matter of sleeping. I hope Aron didn't get my genes when it comes to sleeping....I have ususally a hard time getting to sleep in the evening unfortunately... It has lately taken us between one and two hours to get Aron to sleep...he wants one of us to lie down next to him in his bed. Note that his bed is just a toddler bed.....so not much space there....Then he likes to hold my ear, and he tosses and turns and drinks water and talks and.......then he lies quiet for a while before finally falling asleep. The thing is that lying there in a dark room with him for one to two hours kind of puts you in a sleep mode yourself....so no idea to open any of the school books after that!

And then some Swedish to conclude todays writings!
Aron har även lärt sig att slå kullerbyttor nu, så det är nya nöjet. Han och pappa slår kullerbyttor på vår säng. Han växer den lille. Undra om jag kunde slå en kullerbytta när jag var så där liten...

Now it is time for me to find my bed and try to get some sleep! Tomorrow is Hebrew day, which means it is one of two days when we have to get up around 6:15 or so....not my favorite days at all!!

Ja nu har skolan satt igång igen. Det känns både lite jobbigt samtidigt som det känns bra. Det är ju trots allt det vi är här för, skulle vi inte gå i skolan skulle jag inte vara här. Tulsa är väl inte det roligaste stället att vistas på om man så säger.
Vi har fullt upp den här terminen. Jag tar 15.5 credits vilket innebär fem trepoängskurser och en gympakurs på ett halvt poäng. Förutom det har jag dessutom en audit som innebär att jag får sitta med på lektionerna men jag behöver inte göra något kursarbete, och får därmed inte ett betyg. Kursen kommer dock att stå med som just en audit i mitt slutbetyg sedan.

Vi har bestämt oss för att äta lunch på skolan två dagar i veckan, för att slippa stressa med vad vi ska äta och sånt, det känns bra då det är bra mat och eftersom att just maten var ett gissel förra terminen...både fantasi och ork saknades om man så säger. Sen kommer vi nog att sitta mer på skolan och plugga nu med eftersom vi har lektioner varje dag den här terminen.

Idag har vi dock slappat och varit på zoo med familjen W! Mycket trevligt om än lite väl kallt för min smak, det var kring 2 grader idag...men det var i alla fall halva priset att gå in så vi sparade lite kosing i alla fall på att åka. Vi har dock tänkt att köpa ett årskort för att kunna åka oftare, dock sparar vi det tills lite senare eftersom det halva priset på inträde verkar gälla fram till slutet av februari.

Sen var det Aron då. På dagis i går kom han hem med tre "ouchi-reports," dvs rapporter om att han gjort sig illa....det var lite rivmärken på ryggen eftersom han satt sig mot nåt hårt, sen hade han och en kompis slagit i hop med huvudena och så hade han slagit munnen så det blödde...och i går kväll så vill han inte sova. Under natten verkade det som han hade ont i munnen när han skulle ha nappen, så sömnen blev en aning störd. Förutom det hade han magknip också...Dock verkade han normal på dagen idag förutom att han verkade ha lite ont när han skulle äta en chicken nugget. När vi kom hem från zoot var det dock andra visor. Han hade inte sovit middag och var heltrött och han klagade på ont i munnen, har fått alvedon nu och sover...han somnade på en kvart tror jag och redan innan sju....i vanliga fall somnar han numer efter en till två timmar och gärna efter nio...så vi får väl se hur natten blir, och morgonen....Men jag hoppas i alla fall att hans mun ska må bra i morgon. Annars blir det väl doktorn igen på måndag morgon....Vi är stammisar där nu....

Nä nu ska jag nog ta och se om jag hittar sängen så att jag får sova lite i natt i alla fall..tyvärr blir det inga bilder denna gång.

We have now taken one of the sides of Aron's crib. He is a big boy now and he needs a big bed....
I didn't know it was going to be that hard though....he gets up all the time. But here he actually managed to fall asleep!! Otherwise we have turned the bed toward the wall to make him understand not to get up...I hope it'll work.... =)

The new year has only started but we have had time for some fun anyway! We went to Chuck E Cheese's with Aron yesterday! He had great fun! It is a place where you can eat and play. They have all kinds of games and rides as well as a "tube system" to climb in and a slide to go on! You buy tokens and each thing cost you one token. A lot of the games gives you tickets when you play and those tickets you can exchange for a toy. Here is Aron in the middle of the fun!





And today we enjoyed some fun in the park! It seems like others had the same thought because it was packed in the park...The weather was great, we had around 25 degrees celcius and the sun was shining!! It couldn't be better!! Tomorrow however they say it is going to be -2 degrees celcius...once again...Oklahoma weather...

Since Aron was so good yesterday at the wedding, sitting nicely in his stroller most of the time, we decided to go to the aquarium today! He liked looking at all the fish. And he got to walk all by himself!!

Yeah, we got to go to a wedding this weekend! Great fun! We helped out a bit helping the guests find the book to sign and making and serving punch. The bride and groom looked great as did their whole wedding party! Just have to show some pics!

Aron got finger paint for Christmas, so we had to try it out! Do I have to say it was messy?! It was quite natural to have a bath afterwards. But it was fun!!

Aron likes to be outside, here he enjoyed some time in the park. Unfortunately it was quite cold so the time had to be limited.

Christmas is here! For all of you that celebrate today on Christmas Day I wish you a Merry Christmas, and for all of you who celebrated yesterday I wish you a good continuation of the Christmas!
We did it as we do in Sweden, that is we celebrated yesterday on Christmas Eve! We started out at home with breakfast, getting ready and then some presents. Aron saw the presents early and walked around all morning saying "tep" which is his word for "paket" the Swedish version of present sort of. So we thought it would be cruel not to let him open some. So before lunchtime we opened most of them. He was excited! He really loved ripping the paper off and seeing what was inside!!
After that was done we also went online to talk to grandma and the rest of the family in Indal, however the connection was really bad so we just sat there looking at each other more or less, but at least they got to see Aron for Christmas!! =)

Then it was time for a nap. After that nap Aron was really excited to go see Tilde and her family! We brought with us some Christmas foods and went over there to eat together! It was really a blessed time! We even got an almost authentic Swedish Christmas dinner!! We had Jansson, rödbetssallad, sill, potatis, skinka, vörtbröd (!!), ägg med kaviar, and a lot more! We even had the traditional beverage JULMUST!! I would have to say that i think the best thing was the bread, julvört!! I have so missed Swedish bread over here!! After dinner we had the kids open some more presents! Fun to watch them! Then it was time for the traditional Christmas porridge and after that we went to church!!

Well according to Aron most things are yucky yucky now. Sometimes he uses the Swedish version too; Blää, but mostly yucky yucky. It can be anything, shoes, jacket, food, crackers, you name it...
I wonder when this will change, soon I hope!!

And an update on Andreas toothache; He is now looking more like himself again. The face got so swollen, the pics that I put on the blog are just not telling the truth...it was way worse. I might have to ask his permission to put some other pics up....It wasn't pretty!! Now he has an appointment at the dentist on the 6th of January.

Andreas told me his tooth was aching yesterday, the one he had a root canal done in this summer. He was on painkillers all day yesterday. Today when he woke up he looked like this....









He says it feels like the swelling is going up towards his eye....luckily he is going to see a dentist this afternoon!!

He is feeling much better today, hardly any fever at all.....I wonder what kind of wonder medicin he got this time!! =)

And for me personally, I feel much better today. But as always after a stomach bug it takes a while to feel like yourself again...I hope to be able to eat more today though!

I spent a few hours shopping/chatting with K! We had a great time, just two girls doing whatever they want! No kids, no husbands, just us!

At GAP we ran into some other Swedes...funny how small the world is!

Andreas went to get dinner from KFC, so no cooking today!

On top of that we got our grades, and we made it this semester too!!

The not so good thing however is that our little angel is running a temperature again....it's no end to this it seems....

Å lite snö....


Och igår kväll satt vi och pratade om vad vi ska ha på julbordet. Det verkar som om vi får ett rejält julbord trots allt! Bilder på det kommer så småningom!!

Ja Victory Christian Center som är kyrkan vi går i har en speciell julgudstjänst varje år. Det är en illustrerad predikan om julens budskap. Dom bygger om hela scenen, och har säkert ett hundratal deltagare i själva julspelet. Det är allt ifrån småbäbisar till äldre, och för att göra det hela ännu mer levande så tar dom in riktiga djur. En åsna, en get och två kameler....inte det vanligaste man ser i en kyrka direkt.
Eftersom jag själv glömde kameran den gång jag var fick maken ta med den när han gick så här kommer lite bilder!

Idag står termometern på -9 grader celcius....det är kallt kan jag säga, riktigt kallt...

Det är även is på marken...halt, rejält halt....

Och sen har vi nåt som ska likna snö....eller ja mer som hagel som ligger kvar på marken kanske.....men lite julstämning får man allt....även om det knappt syns.....

Detta är Oklahoma...från +23 i går till -9 idag....det går upp och ner kan man säga. Vi får se när det går upp igen....

Vi  åkte till köpcentret för att äta idag. 

När vi åkte var det 23 grader varmt.

Ungefär två timmar senare hade vi ätit klart, och Aron hade fått leka en stund.

När vi kom ut var det inte mer än 4 grader varmt.......
